Production Floor Manager

Location: Oldbury

1. Plan, implement, and actively manage the daily production schedule on the shop floor, making real-time adjustments to meet operational demands and deadlines.
2. Coordinate the movement of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods across the production floor to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
3. Work closely with the dispatch team to monitor delivery vehicle progress, ensuring timely despatch and maintaining customer OTIF (On Time In Full) performance.
4. Liaise with production and dispatch teams to resolve delivery or scheduling issues and minimise delays to customers.
5. Carry out regular production progress checks to ensure jobs are on track, identifying delays and taking corrective action where required.
6. Monitor product quality throughout the production process, ensuring standards are consistently met and addressing any defects or issues promptly.
7. Maintain close communication with the production office to ensure accurate job tracking, scheduling, and documentation.
8. Assess and allocate the required materials, machinery, and workforce needed to meet production targets efficiently.
9. Work closely with the Branch Manager to monitor stock levels and ensure timely procurement of materials required for safe and continuous production.
10. Ensure all jobs entering production are correctly logged and processed in line with company order entry standards and procedures.
11. Organise and supervise production staff, assigning tasks and balancing workloads to maximise productivity while maintaining safe working practices.
12. Take full responsibility for the management of personnel on the production floor, including supervision, performance management, and day-to-day leadership.
13. Monitor individual and team performance, providing coaching, feedback, and implementing improvements where necessary.
14. Identify training needs and ensure staff are competent, trained, and capable of carrying out their duties effectively and safely.
15. Manage staff rotas, shift patterns, overtime, and leave requests to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times.
16. Continuously review production processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance safety.
17. Make informed decisions regarding the safe use, maintenance, and improvement of production equipment.
18. Ensure all production activities strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safe systems of work.
19. Take full responsibility for health and safety on the production floor, ensuring compliance with legislation, company policies, and risk assessments.
20. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and weekly factory audits, ensuring all areas meet required standards and taking corrective action where necessary.

21. Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, implementing preventative measures to reduce future risks.
22. Promote a strong health and safety culture across the production team.
23. Maintain accurate production and safety records, providing updates to management, sales, and customers as required.
24. Ensure effective communication and coordination between production, procurement, logistics, dispatch, and management teams.
25. Liaise with customers or internal teams regarding production progress and delivery schedules where required.
26. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality Manuals, and Health & Safety documentation.
27. Follow and uphold the company’s Integrated Management System, including Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety requirements.
